A rapid water supply line leak
This is one of those moments you have to call a professional to help you out. If there is a water line that burst and has caused major flooding in your home, call a plumber. This problem is not common, but it happens. You need to act fast if this happens because the more time you take the more damage you have to deal with.
The first thing you need to do is find any intermediary water supply cut-off valves that are close to the leak. You might find a knot-style cut-off valve or a knife (ball valve) that is going to shut down the flow of water to the leak and not the entire house, but this is not the case most of the time. If you can find this, then look for the main water shut-off valve then turn it off. Once you have shut down the water, call the plumber.
No water in the house
If water has stopped flowing inside your home, it is localized in one place like the shower or bathroom sink. It is rare for it to stop flowing in the entire home.
Check if there are any water outlets in your home receiving water. You need to check out both the cold and hot water supplies. If the water heater has a problem and you are no longer getting hot water, then the cold side most likely going to have water.
If you find that the water is not running, it could be a sign of a more serious problem. It could be that the water pipe from the streetside water meter to your house has been severed or has burst, and the water is diverted from your house. The leak could also be with the water meter.

To fix this problem, turn off the water, go under your sink, then replace the trap. For kitchens, the leak could be coming from the garbage disposal. If this is the case, then replace or fix the garbage disposal.
There are drainage lines extending far beyond the cabinets and it is hard to reach them. If the drainage line is under the floor or behind the wall and it is leaking, you have to take action as soon as possible. The most effective way of fixing this problem is to call a plumber to fix the problem. This is going to prevent damage to the paint, drywall, floor covering, and subfloor.
The sewer line is leaking or releasing gaseous odours
A blocked or broken sewer line can manifest in your yard in the form of murky, smelly water or mushy soil. There are times when strange events happen inside your home like bathtubs filling with wastewater or toilets filling when you run the sink. The solution to this problem is digging up the sewer line, locating the clogged or broken sewer pipe, then fixing or replacing it. This work is going to take a couple of days.
